Back in Business

This past week the big assignment that was due was the topic proposal. I am not completely sure but I think that compared to last year a lot of the assignments are due earlier which is personally something that I am for because it allows us more time to work on facets of our original work and eventually our final product. It is especially beneficial for me because I am allowed to work at my own pace so for me to be able to move through all of the preliminary assignments really gives me more control over my project this year because there are less external factors that are influencing the timeline of my project. In terms of contacts, I am facing the problems as I did last year. Because the technology industry makes it hard to single out an employee of a company like it is in business, finance, or medicine, I find myself truly cold calling and eventually I will have to leave a message with either a machine or the front desk and then I have to follow up if I do not get a response back. So that is one of the particular challenges that I encountered this past week, and it is just something that I have to push through. On the bright side, business symposium is coming up this week and quite frankly it is one of the most beneficial events of the whole year. As an ISM II student, I am looking to get more things out of it such as improving my nonverbal professionalism and helping some of the ISM I students with any of their concerns. With that being said, I look forward to going to the business symposium this week and refining my professional skills and helping others refine theirs.
