Falling Short

My last speech fell short. I'll be the first to admit it. It was not my best speech. Going into it, I just did not feel as confident as I did last time and I did not get the same vibe going into the speech. I did not have as much time to prepare but I believe that the shortened amount of preparation time is actually beneficial because it helps drive home the idea of meeting deadlines. Meeting deadlines does not just mean to turn in a paper or a project in on time. It means meeting the expectation on time. Regardless of what the expectation is. The expectation could be tangible or it could be an action. In terms of what went wrong, I went over on time again. My verbosity is definitely something that I need to work on so that I am not over-explaining anything. Just because I am passionate about mobile app development that does not mean that my audience is as well. So bearing that in mind, I will have to edit the way that I deliver my speeches that are to follow. I will make them less content dense and avoid circumlocution so that I can keep it succinct and to the point. Lastly, I was dissapointed in my closing. The speech did not end in the way that I wanted it to. It was not really definite and it felt kind rushed, almost like I wanted to get the speech over with even though that was not the case. This in turn reflected in almost an abrupt ending that did not sit well with the audience. What I think is good though is that I can identify where I went wrong and so from here I know exactly where to improve for my next presentation.
