Learning More & More

These past week was spent heavily on research. I had a couple of research assessments due and thus I needed to research a lot as well. I had to deviate a little from my topic for my original work so I had to adjust my research accordingly. One particular article that helped me with my original work was Dovetail's. Dovetail's article provided tips for the analysis of data specifically in the terms of mobile app development. The two main takeaways for me as an ISM student were that I need to understand my goal of analyzing the data and that I need to use coding to analyze the raw data. What coding basically means is that I need to make certain codes for common patterns and once these patterns start recurring it will be easier to identify because I have created a code and so I will be looking for repeated codes instead of having to read convoluted statements over and over again. First, Dovetail suggested that I must understand my goals in analyzing the data. The article discussed that depending on what one is looking to get from the data, he/she will look for different patterns in the data. These patterns that provide the analyzer with new knowledge are called insights. For my original work, the way that I will analyze the data is by looking for problems that are prevalent. So whatever responses are the most commonly stated are the ones that will become insights. Identifying these insights is particularly important for the analytical report that will be my original work. Given all this information, I look forward to completing my original work within the next few weeks.
