Making Contacts

This past week in ISM was primarily research focused. Firstly, I had to complete another research assessment. In the process of searching for a new article, I encountered my first challenge of the week. The problem with product engineering in the technology industry is that the technology industry is still relatively new and is making strides rapidly. This is the same problem that I had last year. Last year since my topic was mobile app programming, there was a dearth of articles in databases which is why I had to resort to finding articles on Google and then making judgments on the credibility of the article. Luckily, because I had the same problem last year I can discern credibility of articles fairly quickly. Next, in terms of research I had to complete the contact list. This was another particular challenge. Within engineering, product engineering is pretty specified as it is so for me to find product engineering with a specification in technology is even harder given that we are nowhere near Silicon Valley or any tech companies. However, given that it is my second year, I feel that I can have some reach contacts such as Apple and Google. I understand that these are not feasible but in the unlikely event that I may get a contact from these companies, it would be remarkable. With that being said, I look forward to making calls and hopefully conducting all my informational interviews within the next three weeks.
